STEP 1:
Where ever possible immediately secure the animal into a box or similar so that it is safe from further harm and does not go missing, It only takes a blink of a eye for a animal to disappear into the hedges or for a cat or bird of prey to take them. If the animal has been attacked by a Cat or Dog it will require antibiotics as soon as possible. Cat and Dog saliva is full of harmful bacteria that causes infection and is especially deadly to birds. Never just release any bird that has been attacked by a dog or cat always seek help asap.
Step 2
Very few wildlife rescues and rehabbers offer a collection service this is because they are extremely busy providing critical care to the sick and injured animals in there care. Some animals such as baby garden birds require feeding every 20 minutes without fail or can die so rescues cannot just go out when a call comes in so please be prepared to arrange your own transport to get the animal to them. The sooner this can be done the better the animals chances of survival are. Please only hand wildlife into a vets as a very last resort, vets are a business and will not treat or house wildlife most will only euthanize so a dedicated Rescue or Rehabber is a much better option. Thank you.
